GUJARAT
Gujarat : gets its name from 'Gujjar Rashtra', the land of the gujjars, a migrant tribe
who came to India in the wake of the invading Huns in the 5th century.
The region saw various kingdoms till the present state of Gujarat founded on 1st May, 1960.
While a large Jain population and a long period of Buddhist culture from the great Ashoka's time,
the people of Gujarat are strict vegetarian. Their history has given them a gentle dignity and a secure culture.
They are known for their astute business sense. It is the home of Mahatma Gandhi - the father of the Nation.
Gujarat is one of the leading industrialised state in the country. It is also the home of the last of the Asiatic lions.
